The county Community Action Agencies are great as a first step when you need help. These agencies provide multiple services: Utility help, eviction help, access to state resources, housing and weatherization programs, Literacy and Education, Computer classes, Financial coaching, Foreclosure intervention, free tax prep, home ownership programs and more. If you call their Call Centers, they will direct you to the help you need. If you need something they don't provide, they have resource navigators with a lot more experience than we have who can connect you to other community resources.
